Aspects of the Test - Practical

Your practical driving test will assess you on safe, competant driving and your knowledge of the highway code (demonstrated through driving).

What will happen?

The test will start with the examiner testing your eyesight by asking you to read a number plate from a distance.

You will then be asked some questions about the car to prove that you know it is safe to drive.

The driving part of your test will last for approximately 40 minutes and throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying out the set exercises.

Driving Exercises

During your test you will be required to carry out two of the following exercises:

  • reversing around a corner
  • turning in the road
  • reverse parking
